About The Fabrik
Microsoft Power Platform specialist helping Manchester SMEs use the tools they already have.
I Started as an Accountant Who Realised I Loved Building Systems
I trained as an accountant and kept getting pulled into fixing systems and automating processes. While others were happy doing the work, I kept finding ways to make it faster. I realised I loved building systems more than doing the accounting. First with Excel macros. Then mouse recorders. Anything to make the work go faster.
I realised I cared more about making systems work than doing the actual accounting. So I moved into Payroll and HR systems. Then ERP implementations. Helping businesses understand their processes and get their systems working for them instead of against them.
From Education to CTO
I landed in education thinking I would just speed up some reporting. Ended up running their entire DevOps function. Low-code and no-code development. IT helpdesks. Security. Infrastructure. A proper CTO role where I got to build things that actually worked.
That transformation, from paper is king to a proper development environment, is what made me start The Fabrik. I saw how technology could change a business when it is done right. And I saw how many companies buy tools they think they need when they already have solutions sitting unused.
What I Actually Do
7+ Years with Power Platform
Power Platform, Azure Logic Apps, Functions, and anything serverless. SQL for 15+ years before that. I love all tools, the right one for the right job.
Biggest Wins
Transforming IT and MS environments to be light touch. Using Copilot Studio to turn complicated data into something humans can actually read.
Biggest Mistake
I once paid someone £2 million instead of £2 thousand. Luckily we caught it at the bank. Early in my career. Taught me everything about dev and live environments, and that one mistake does not define you.
Why Manchester?
I live here. I am a true Manc. Manchester has a brilliant base of companies and I want to support them. No sales pitch. I am not a salesman and do not claim to be. I want to do my best for your company and I will be there to support you properly.
My Philosophy
Use what you already have.
Then if you need something new, start small. Give yourself a foundation for whatever the future brings. This approach also helps when you are buying. If you have 50+ employees, you need to know what you actually need before you start spending.
Outside Work
I have three kids. So not much time for me. I love running but my knees do not agree.
